WHO Health Recommendations
Underweight (BMI < 18.5)
- Gradual weight gain through balanced nutrition
- Increase protein intake (1.2-1.5g/kg body weight)
- Resistance training to build muscle mass
- Regular medical check-ups
Normal Weight (18.5-24.9)
- Maintain current weight through balanced diet
- 150-300 minutes moderate exercise weekly
- Limit saturated fats to <10% of total energy intake
- Regular health screenings
Overweight (25.0-29.9)
- 5-10% weight loss for health improvements
- Reduce energy intake by 500-750 kcal/day
- Increase physical activity to 300 minutes/week
- Limit sugar intake to <25g/day
Obesity (≥30.0)
- Medical supervision for weight management
- Combination of diet, exercise, and behavioral therapy
- Consider pharmacological treatment if BMI ≥30 or ≥27 with comorbidities
- Bariatric surgery for BMI ≥40 or ≥35 with comorbidities
